Several years ago, after my marriage had terminated in divorce, I found Christian Science. Soon I met the man to whom I am now married. He had also been married before, and had been left with sole responsibility for a daughter, who was in her early teens.
Just prior to our meeting, I had begun an earnest study of Science, and I was attempting to put its teachings into practice. Daily study of the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, attendance at Wednesday testimony meetings and Sunday services in a branch church, and the reading of many helpful articles in the periodicals were enabling me to pull my own life together. This involved raising a pre-teen daughter and coming to grips with the challenges of a very demanding job.
Later, when we were planning our marriage, my husband told me that it was my expression of joy, dominion, and confidence in good that had attracted him to me. I had explained that Science was showing me how to live a happy life. Soon he enrolled his daughter in the Christian Science Sunday School, and he began attending branch church services. His daughter had become the source of great anxiety and despair to him, and he was eager to find release from his worries. She had been arrested for public drunkenness and disturbance, expelled from high school for disobedience and truancy, and was strongly resisting all efforts to lead her in the right direction.
