At one time thirty years ago I hit the side of my head on a sharp corner of a kitchen cabinet. In a short while a small lump appeared. It didn't hurt then, but during the intervening years I was often conscious of it when combing my hair. Because it wasn't painful, I tended to neglect the problem instead of seeking its solution through prayer in Christian Science.
Two winters ago, while riding in a car, I accidentally hit the lump on the metal strip of the window two or three times. The following week I again hit the lump a couple of times, after which it became most uncomfortable. This made me realize it was time to do something. After a few days of praying for myself (and feeling as though I wasn't making much progress) I called a Christian Science practitioner for help.
Following this call, I spent quite a bit of time studying, using the Concordances to Mrs. Eddy's writings; striving to get a clearer understanding of God and my relation to Him and a better grasp of the fact that true substance is Spirit, not matter.
