Life without age

From the July 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It has been said that when the world stops saying that we're too young, it starts saying that we're too old! Unwittingly, we may accept limitations imposed upon us by world beliefs that say we are subject to the conditions of a material body. But we don't have to.

Christian Science, which is rooted in the life and teachings of Christ Jesus, presents the revolutionizing fact that Life is not in matter. It defines Life as God, the Supreme Being, the beginningless and endless infinite Spirit that always has been and always will be. Life is divine Principle—invariable, infallible. It manifests the perfection, purity, and peace of Soul.

In these grand verities we find the law of our being—the sum and substance of our existence. In Science we find man's immortality and perfection as the expression of Life, God—totally separate from matter. Peace and dominion come as we demonstrate true selfhood and give up a material sense of existence, as we defeat the belief of life in matter with its nagging claims. In her book No and Yes, Mrs. Eddy gives us this compelling truth regarding continuous being: "Eternal harmony, perpetuity, and perfection, constitute the phenomena of being, governed by the immutable and eternal laws of God; whereas matter and human will, intellect, desire, and fear, are not the creators, controllers, nor destroyers of life or its harmonies." No and Yes, pp. 10-11.
