Prayer in church

From the July 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Gratitude (yes) for the opportunity
to expand my sense of love
beyond self.

If the love
behind a healing is confined
to self, that sense of love
is
incomplete.

But if, when I pray "Our Father,"
I consciously include everyone,
my sense of Church
will never be less
than full.

And this inclusiveness
is not a pale abstraction
(a human sense of brotherhood
made big), for it grows
meekly and naturally
out of God's love
felt
in daily application.
