Teaching the littlest ones in Sunday School

From the December 1986 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Not long ago the teacher of the youngest class was appointed superintendent of our Sunday School at the branch Church of Christ, Scientist, where I am a member. Needing a new teacher, she called and asked if I would be willing to take over her class. My immediate and definite reply was "Oh no, thank you!" I hung up the phone greatly relieved, knowing that God would provide someone who really knew how to communicate with those unpredictable youngsters.

Then, as I prayed, thoughts, more Christly and unselfed, began to come, such as, What a wonderful opportunity this would be to learn more about God's communication of ideas to all His children. And what a privilege to learn more fully what our Master, Christ Jesus, meant when he declared, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." Matt. 18:3.

Wouldn't this be a great opportunity for me to become as a little child: receptive to good, gentle, joyous, pure in heart?
