Church Bulletin Board

From the August 1990 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whether at a shopping mall, on a college campus, or in the foyer of a church, a bulletin board is a great place for people to share information. You can learn a lot about an active community from reading local bulletin boards. We hope you'll enjoy this bulletin board and feel encouraged to join in and share experiences.

The whole membership of our church serves as the lecture committee because we feel sponsoring Christian Science lectures for our community is such an essential part of our mission. When we met to choose a topic and lecturer for the fall, we realized we did not want to focus so much on a specific community concern but rather on a fundamental spiritual truth that would offer a basis for meeting any human need. In this way we felt that no one in our community could feel excluded from the healing message of this lecture.

We chose as our focus the allness of God as Spirit, which, understood and lived in our own lives, results in spirituality, bringing healing. As our primary preparation for the lecture, we each committed ourselves to healing an aspect of materialism or unhelpful material dependency in our own lives. We realized there was no better way to support the healing effectiveness and outreach of the lecture than for our lives to bear witness to its message through spiritual growth and healing.
