My grandparents and parents were adherents of Christian Science. Consequently, I grew up in a home where Science was studied and practiced. Until the age of twenty I attended the Sunday School of our branch church. The teaching there gave me a clear knowledge of God and a fundamental spiritual support. I later became a member of The Mother Church and of the branch church.
At one point during my professional training, I was obliged to take a ski trip to the mountains. The night temperatures dropped below minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and we all slept in a dusty, open loft. Later I contracted severe pneumonia.
A Christian Science practitioner prayed for me. With her husband, who had been my Sunday School teacher, she sat by my bed through the night of crisis. The power of God brought the victory by morning. My release included a complete healing of recurring colds and of sensitivity to the cold and to dust; also, a wonderful new strength was given me. My gratitude for this healing is forever boundless.
