A few honest seekers

Lay preacher finds the healing she'd been seeking

From the September 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

After I was baptized as a young girl, I felt the need to fulfill the command of Christ Jesus to preach the gospel and heal the sick. Jesus said, "These signs shall follow them that believe" (Mark 16:17). And I wondered, "Am I a believer if I am not healing?"

In later years I was called to preach as a lay minister in my Methodist church, and I was working as a manager in the healthcare sector, thinking that this was a way I could be closer to people who are involved with healing. I love preaching, and as I was preaching, I was learning more about the Word of God. And I desperately wanted to see the power of Christ in healing. I knew that there was more, but I didn't know how to find it.

I was realizing more and more that medicine was not the answer. I had prayed a lot about this. It was then that I found Science and Health. I came across it in a bookshop, and when I saw that it said with Key to the Scriptures, I picked it up. With some hesitation, I thought, "Could this be the answer?" Finally, I bought the book and couldn't put it down.
