ANNUAL MEETING

Report from the Field

[Original in Russian]

From the September 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When I was Growing up, people absolutely did not discuss questions about spirituality. I myself was raised in a family of atheists. This was usual for a lot of families in Kazakhstan, and it would be very strange to hear somebody talk about spirituality. There were no programs about religion at school. No shops existed where you could buy religious literature.

In 1998 I began to read Science and Health because a Christian Scientist gave it to me. At the time I had family relationship problems. I opened to the last chapter, where there are descriptions of healing, and from reading them, I wanted to know how healing comes about. After that I became very interested and started to read the book more attentively. I was immediately healed of chronic enteritis, and my relationships began to change. I calmed down and became more peaceful. My attitude toward the world around me began to change. I became a new person.

When I started to read the book, I wanted to find another Christian Scientist in the world—so I went on the Internet. I found out there is a Christian Science Society in St. Petersburg. They speak Russian!
