ANNUAL MEETING

Report from the Field

[Original in German]

From the September 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Science and Health was always a very important book to me and other church members in Switzerland. But we were often afraid to share it, because it seemed so difficult to find the right words to say. Maybe we were afraid of standing out in public. Sometimes you need courage to say, "I read Science and Health, and this book is helpful to anyone in any situation."

I became aware of the public interest in spirituality two years ago when I started hearing about how others were going to conferences and talking about Christian Science. I needed the example of others—it gave me ideas on what I could do.

In 2001 I was invited to work at a stand where Science and Health was to be exhibited and sold during a three-day conference on spiritual healing in Basel. It was the first time I had worked at a conference, and we had a lot of visitors. This was where I learned how to talk with the public about Science and Health. There I saw that everyone has a desire for spirituality, but can't always express it. I had to learn to be patient and listen carefully. In doing this, my spiritual intuition about people's needs increased greatly.
