Sunday School students speak

From the September 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The workshop continued with the reading of letters written by young people expression how they feel about Science and Health, and how they've been sharing the book with their friends. Sunday School teachers Travis and Hollister Thomas read portions of these letters, with the help of Sunday School students Katie Ward, Aquene Reed, and Cosmo Coppola-Rowell.

"My freshman soccer coach was having a tough time with things going on in his life. His father was really sick and his wife was pregnant. She'd had a miscarriage, and he was afraid that something might go wrong again. So I decided to give him a Science and Health to help him with his troubles. When I gave it to him, I told him that it always helped me, and I thought it would help him, too. He asked me a couple of interesting questions and said, "Thank you. I'll read it." A few days later, he saw my mom and asked her if he could keep it, or if we wanted it back. He said the ideas had been helpful and he wanted to keep reading."

"It has helped me through any situation to always be optimistic." "I enjoy reading this book, because whenever I get angry, I'll get it out and read passages from it. I received it from my stepmother. When I got it, I was having a hard time with her, and now we are strongly recovering." "I've learned a lot about prayer. I'm only eleven, kind of new to this book, but from what I've read, it's good."
