Since 2005, a small group of Christian Scientists in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, has been producing and broadcasting a bimonthly radio show titled Spiritual healing today, featuring Christian Science healings. In January this year, one of the hosts of the show, Gérard Mutombo Biba [GMB], recorded a program about the importance of the Wednesday testimony meetings held in Christian Science churches all over the world. His guests were Louis Mulumba [LM], a Christian Science practitioner from Kinshasa, and Reagan Kabuluku [RK], head of the Christian Science Organization at one of Kinshasa’s universities. Here are some excerpts of the show:
GMB: Each Wednesday testimony meeting is an opportunity to share experiences about the greatness of God’s abundant love in our lives. It’s also an opportunity to learn from others, and to be blessed by expressing gratitude for all we have received. Why do you think it is particularly important to regularly attend the Wednesday testimony meetings?
LM: I feel that the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, was inspired through revelation to establish the Wednesday testimony meetings so that we would not keep for ourselves the fruits of our prayer and study, but that we would share them with others. For example, one day I had a fever, so I prayed with passages in the Bible and in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy. I was quickly healed, and I shared right away my experience with others by giving a testimony in church because I wanted many to know that they could be quickly healed, too.
