Last September, I was alerted to alarming news in my country. I was at work in the middle of the day, and suddenly reports of a terror alert were coming in to Mumbai, as well as to neighboring towns and cities in the western part of India.
Apparently, some older schoolchildren had reported sighting “terrorists” dressed in uniform, with guns, walking through an isolated part of their town. The threat was taken as credible, and there was a heightened level of security.
Given the instances of terrorism we’ve had in the past in Mumbai, and the escalated violence at the border in Kashmir (just days earlier there had been a fatal attack on an army base there), the fear was extensive.
