I had always been very healthy, but ever since my high school days I was tormented during the winter months by periodic attacks of symptoms I associated with tonsillitis. For nearly twenty years these attacks recurred two or three times a year, lasting a couple of days each time.
Since these episodes were sporadic and caused minor discomfort, for years I felt no urgency to pray about the condition or to even delve more deeply into studying Christian Science, although I was raised in Science and by then had a long history of spiritual healings through prayer.
Then one year the attacks started to come more frequently and became more and more acute, to the point where it was almost impossible to eat. Even talking was painful.
