Perhaps the most important question one has to ask oneself when praying for healing is, “Do I believe God?” For me the answer is, “Yes, I believe that God, divine Spirit, is the almighty, ever-present, omniscient, all-loving, omnipotent Mind, who cares about me and everyone and who made everything ‘very good’ (Genesis 1:31).”
For decades I’ve enjoyed evening walks, but about five years ago I began facing some challenging symptoms with every step. At the time it was a bit frightening to hear repeatedly about people having to undergo knee surgery. But I thought, “Here is my opportunity to demonstrate divine Love’s care for me.”
I recalled many years previously assisting a woman who was struggling to go down some stairs. She said that the problem was with her knees—that the cartilage had worn out. I began to think then about the function of cartilage as the padding which makes the joints function comfortably. And I tried to think about how I could pray about this problem.
