I was serving on the board of a company that was being sold in a complex transaction in Europe. After months of negotiations with the buyer, we were at a standstill, unable to resolve several key issues. I was asked to get more involved in the negotiations on a daily basis.
As I began my new role, I prayed diligently each morning with something I had read in a reminiscence of Mary Baker Eddy by Calvin C. Hill: “On one occasion Mrs. Eddy said to me, in substance, ‘The first thing I do in the morning when I awake is to declare I shall have no other mind before divine Mind, and become fully conscious of this, and adhere to it throughout the entire day; then the evil cannot touch me’ ” (We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, Expanded Edition, Vol. 1, p. 353).
Disagreement and frustration could not touch me or anyone else under Mind’s direction.
