Two summers ago, my ten-year-old daughter was healed of warts. The growths had seemed to be persistent and had spread to many places on her body. When the condition didn’t yield to my husband’s and my immediate prayers, we called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment.
After the call with the practitioner, many helpful ideas came to mind and inspired me. One clear thought was that this child was God’s child and she had the ability to listen not just to her human parents, but to her true Parent—her eternal Father-Mother—and to love and know God. I shared this with the practitioner and we prayed to know our daughter was the expression of divine Love and completely at one with her Father-Mother. We held to the idea that she was influenced only by Love and wanted to be good and obedient to what was right.
As the summer continued, my daughter and I spent a lot of time at our community pool. Watching her in the pool, I struggled mightily to see through the deceptive picture of the physical senses and to recognize our daughter’s innate purity and goodness, free from any disfiguring blemish.
