Testimonies of Healing
About four years ago I was in a bad condition due to what is known as acute neurasthenia. I had the advice of five different physicians, and carried on the treatments prescribed by them with intense eagerness, only to find myself getting rapidly worse, till the fear of having a stroke and of losing my reason seemed always with me.
I wish to express my gratitude for the quick healing which I have received through Christian Science. I was in a hospital ten weeks suffering from inflammation of the kidneys, and no doctor could help me.
There is no greater privilege in the world than to be healed in Christian Science, and to have an opportunity to tell mankind of the wonderful blessing this truth brings into every honest seeker's life. Christian Science was presented to me at a time when it seemed as if there was nothing whatever to help me, as I had had lumbago for several years at intervals.
With a heart overflowing with gratitude, I wish to express my appreciation of Christian Science, and to tell of some of the many reasons for my thankfulness. In 1917 this teaching was brought to my attention by a dear friend, and I was instantaneously healed of lockjaw, after the doctor had given me up.
Christian Science is the light of the world; and for this light that is dawning on human thought I am truly grateful. It is only after nearly fourteen years of a wrong sense of working or struggling that I am now beginning to realize what that Light is that "lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
The subject of Christian Science was presented to me at a time of great physical need. I had been suffering for fourteen weeks from inflammation of the eyes.
The road to our home crossed two boulevards and four electric-train tracks. At five o'clock in the afternoon the traffic over these roads is very heavy.
I am most grateful for Christian Science and for all the blessings which it has brought me. Some four years ago, I came to a place in my experience where there seemed to be no rest or peace for me.
One of the few things that stand out in my memory of early childhood is trouble with my eyes. It was supposed that I was born with weak eyes.
Last year, while I was staying in the south of France, what seemed a very severe attack of pneumonia, with a bad cough and high fever, overtook me. I wired to a Christian Science practitioner in Holland for treatment, which was kindly given.
