Testimonies of Healing
About twenty years ago the seed of Christian Science was first planted in our home. Two years after my marriage in 1903 our struggles with sickness began, and for ten years I actually dreaded the spring of the year—it seemed so sure to bring sorrow.
I would like to express my gratitude for Christian Science. Two years ago, while trying to board a fast moving car, I was thrown to the pavement, sustaining a severe cut on the chin, and, I learned two weeks later, a broken wrist.
As one who has derived untold benefit from the study of Christian Science, I am taking the opportunity of telling others what it has done for me. I did not take it up for physical healing but to get acquainted with the true idea of God and man.
I did not know at the time, eight years ago, why I took up Christian Science, for I was led to buy the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," almost as soon as I had heard the name; but when I found on further study that my childhood prayer to be able to heal the sick as Jesus did was answered, my joy knew no bounds. Through the unfoldment to me of God as Father Mother, as revealed in Christian Science.
I have derived so much benefit from the testimonies that I would like to tell a few of the many blessings I have received since being interested in Christian Science. In the spring of 1917 I was healed of an abscess on my eye.
About sixteen years ago a friend gave me a copy of '"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also some Sentinels and Journals to read, and after reading for about six weeks I found myself healed of heart trouble, sleeplessness, a very painful varicose vein, and headaches of many years' standing.
The greatest joy that has come into my life is the larger understanding of God gained through the study of Christian Science. The realization each day of the ever presence of our dear heavenly Father is to me the "pearl of great price.

I have read so many testimonies in the Journal and Sentinel that have helped me on my upward path that I feel, were I to continue receiving but giving nothing in return, I would not be fulfilling the law of Love. A little over a year ago I took up the study of Christian Science, and since then darkness has been turned into light.
From my earliest recollections I was conscious of a desire, which increased with time, to know the truth about being,—a desire to know about God and man. Throughout childhood and later as a young woman I puzzled over these ever recurring questions, as mankind throughout all ages has done: Why are we here? Where did we come from? And what will become of us when we leave here? I believed there was a reason for everything, and that sometime I would learn the reason for being.
