Testimonies of Healing

It is a long time since I first became interested in Christian Science, and I have been called upon to prove its efficacy in almost every direction. When I look back upon the condition in which Christian Science found me.

When a boy eleven years old, I united with a church and tried to live according to its doctrines, but the temptations were many and seemed too much for me. I became discouraged and began to lose my health, until I seemed to come under the law of mortal disease.

On page 424 of Science and Health we read, "Accidents are unknown to God. " The proof of this was brought home to the writer in a striking manner some time ago.

I turned to Christian Science in an hour of great need, solely to obtain physical healing. I was suffering from severe internal maladies, was always in pain, scarcely able to walk, and spent all my time either in bed or on a sofa.

Our little son was taken ill with fever. He was under the doctor's care and took a lot of medicine, but when the fever left him a sore came on his neck, and his chin drew down so that he could not raise his head or turn it.

For a number of years I have been proving that Christian Science does heal and that it is a protecting religion. The first proof of Truth's healing power was experienced at a time of great need, spiritual, physical, and financial.

There may be some who read this who are having a struggle to get started in their study of Christian Science, some who perhaps, like myself, have always wanted to be true followers of Christ Jesus and who have been told by those uninstructed in the subject that this religion denies the divinity of Christ and is a work of the devil. For the benefit of such I would like to say that I had been told this and had fully believed it, with the result that for eight months after Christian Science was first presented to me I could not conscientiously read or study the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs.

It is with deep gratitude for Christian Science that I send my testimony of healing. On page 597 of Science and Health we find the definition of the word wilderness: "Loneliness; doubt; darkness.

For some twenty years or more I took medicine and was under the care of physicians. I traveled in search of health in different climates, but found no permanent relief from rheumatism and stiff joints.

I have been a student of Christian Science for about nine years, and have always thought that some day I should write a testimony of gratitude for the many blessings I have received and am continually receiving. From the time I was a small child I had been afraid that I might have spinal meningitis.
