Testimonies of Healing
It is with a heart filled to overflowing with gratitude and love that I write this testimony, hoping it will help some one as I have been helped and encouraged by the testimonies of others. In August, 1906, I first heard of Christian Science.
I am very grateful for many blessings that have come to me through an understanding of Christian Science. In the summer of 1916 a discordant condition of the throat caused me great inconvenience and discomfort.
It has been about ten years since I first learned of Christian Science, and the proof of its efficacy was revealed to me through the permanent healing of a very discordant physical condition, which had been present for many years. This healing was necessarily accompanied by mental purification.
I have wished for some time to tell the world what Christian Science has done for me. For more than a year I was sick with so-called stomach trouble.
My little girls have so often asked me to send in a testimony of the many blessings we have received in Christian Science, and we find the testimonies in the periodicals so helpful that I send mine hoping it may encourage other seekers after Truth. Four years ago I underwent several serious operations which upset me very much, and I became dreadfully nervous, irritable, and unhappy.
An expression of gratitude for Christian Science has become a necessity, the only difficulty being to make an adequate one. My blessings have been many since I began its study about twelve years ago.
In expressing my gratitude for the healing power of Christian Science teaching, I am especially grateful that through it we obtain a demonstrable knowledge of God as the only power, that we may know Him as a present help in whatever circumstance or condition we find ourselves placed,—among the children, in the house duties, the field, the office, everywhere and all the time. I never think of turning to any other aid, and am never disappointed.
Joy and gratitude are the words which most nearly express what I feel toward Christian Science. I became interested in this religion through seeing the results of its healing power in a case where the usual methods had failed.
With a feeling of deep gratitude I hereby testify to the blessings received through Christian Science. In August, 1914, I sustained a fracture of the thigh bone, which the doctors declared very serious, as I was already seventy years old.
With a sense of deepest gratitude I write of the many blessings that have come into my life through Christian Science in the last three years. One of the most wonderful was the healing of our eight-months-old son of what doctors would have pronounced pneumonia and peritonitis with very grave complications.
