Testimonies of Healing

I can bear grateful testimony to the fact that Christian Science heals organic disease, even when beyond the power of surgery to do so. Through God's loving care I was guided to this healing religion when a number of physicians could give me no relief.

Gratitude for the many blessings I have received from God through the study of Christian Science prompts me to send a testimony of healing for publication. Several years ago I became troubled with a growth in my right breast, which grew more and more painful as time passed by, until finally to my dismay I found one of like nature forming in the left breast also.

A number of years ago (August, 1913) the Journal published my testimony as to the healing of my eyes after many years of suffering and no help from the best specialists. Now I want to add that my sight continues good, although I am past fourscore years of age.

About nine years ago, while living in Denver, Colorado, I was taken down with a severe attack of what is called typhopneumonia. I had been going a pretty fast gait, and that made the case more complicated.

I am very grateful for Christian Science, and am glad to tell of my wonderful healing and the many blessings that have come to me through this teaching. I arrived here from the East on December 31, 1909, an entire stranger, and knowing nothing of Christian Science.

When I read of a fatality resulting from a child swallowing the acid in a golf ball, I felt that I had not done my part in telling others how Christian Science is to-day proving the statement made by Christ Jesus, which is given in the last chapter of Mark's gospel, "If they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. " Three years ago our daughter, then nine years old, was playing with an old golf ball.

It has been over a year since I took up the study of Christian Science to see whether there was an answer to a question which has always been a puzzle to me, and that is, why we suffer even though we ask for help in prayer. I did not know the answer before, as I did not know the meaning of the commandment, "Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

With deep gratitude to God for the many blessings which my family and I have received through Christian Science, I give this testimony. Several years ago when Christian Science was mentioned to me, I refused to believe it, being ignorant of its teachings; nevertheless through intense suffering I was compelled to turn to it, as materia medica was of no avail and could give me no relief.

When a boy eleven years old, I united with a church and tried to live according to its doctrines, but the temptations were many and seemed too much for me. I became discouraged and began to lose my health, until I seemed to come under the law of mortal disease.

Christian Science was brought to my notice in the autumn of 1904. I had been searching for a guiding principle for a long time, especially the previous four years.
