
Testimonies of Healing
In 1886, while still a child, I fell very heavily on my back, and after that I suffered a great deal from backache. This increased in severity with the years, but I refused to see a physician about it.
It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I did not come to it for physical benefit, but for the spiritual uplift.
As the result of a prolonged and painful nervous breakdown, I was a wreck when Christian Science first found me. I could not sleep without the use of drugs, and had been in the doctor's hands for months without avail, until at last I seemed as one "having no hope, and without God in the world.
Some years ago, in extreme mental need, I held earnest consultation with a loved and eminent minister. In answer to my questions, he replied that he almost felt like accusing me of having dabbled with Christian Science literature.
If my testimony to the healing power of Christian Science stimulates increased effort on the part of even one searcher after ever present good, I shall be thankful; and in this spirit I lift up my heart and voice in thanksgiving for the innumerable benefits that have come to me and mine through the application of the truth as revealed to us in Christian Science. I turned to this teaching for physical healing, and through the faithful work of a loving practitioner I have received abundantly.
With the psalmist I would exclaim: "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.

I want to express my gratitude for the many blessings that have come to me through Christian Science; also for the understanding of this truth, which is an ever present help at all times and under all circumstances. Late one afternoon, when crossing a street where there is a great deal of travel, I was hit by a large automobile and thrown violently to the ground.
It is with a feeling of deep gratitude, though with shame for letting so long a time elapse before sending my testimony to the periodicals, that I now try to express some of the love and gratitude I feel to Christian Science, and to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
From earliest childhood up to middle age my most intimate acquaintance was the family physician. I had physicians in many states, and when I look back, my heart fills with deep gratitude for the many kindnesses and ever ready response of these men to my every call.
