Testimonies of Healing
Seven years ago the attending physician told me that he could do nothing more for me unless I would consent to be taken to a sanitarium for a rest-cure of several months, when I would need to undergo an operation and after that go to another climate. I had been running down in health for over a year and had been confined to my bed for over a month.
It is with much pleasure that I am able to confirm the testimony of Miss Aarons, as I knew of her condition at the time of her illness and noted the marvelous change in her. She had absent treatment, and within a short time she was perfectly cured.
I think I should wait no longer to express my gratitude for the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I had been a careless Christian, attending church as the result of custom only, and nourishing within me a mind which looked at religion and the Bible as a puzzle to be left alone.
One often hears the remark, "I could believe in Christian Science, but not when it comes to absent treatment. " I wish therefore to testify to the efficacy of such treatment.
It is two years since my little boy was healed, and there has been no return whatever of the trouble. He goes to the Christian Science Sunday school, and it is a great help.
One's gratitude for Truth is best expressed in a life corrected, yet the spoken or written testimony may be of help to some one passing through a similar experience. While I am deeply grateful for the physical help which has come to me through the study of Christian Science, yet above all I am grateful for peace, for a true and dependable philosophy of life, for the ability to say with certainty, "I know.
As I am now interested in Christian Science, I feel it my duty to testify to its healing power as witnessed in our home. One evening in July,1912, our little boy, aged three years, was suddenly taken ill.
In October,1898, I first experienced the healing power of Christian Science. I had been seeking health for more than a year, as I was afflicted with various ills; but resorted to physicians, a hospital, electricity, etc.
"ARE we truly grateful for the blessings already bestowed upon us, if we are not endeavoring to share them with others?" After reading this sentence in an editorial in the Journal for February,1913, I reflected for a few moments and compared my state of health of a few years ago and of today. Three years ago, before coming into Christian Science, I was a physical and mental wreck.
I give this testimony out of thankfulness to God for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science, and also in gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who prepared herself through years of study of the Bible to be the bearer of the glorious message embodied in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
