Testimonies of Healing

Several years ago, in Jacksonville, Fla. , I was thrown from a bicycle while riding at a great speed, landing on my back, but my recovery from the immediate injury was speedy and apparently perfect.

As one who in the past has known the meaning of sorrow, and suffering both of body and mind, I desire to tell of my healing in Christian Science. From early womanhood, until within the past few years, I scarcely knew what health was, and spent a good portion of my time at different periods in various sanitariums and health resorts, but still remained an invalid.

Thinking that my experience in getting rid of the tobacco habit, which was somewhat unique, might be interesting and perhaps helpful to the thousands of men who are also its victims, I have much pleasure in relating it. I did not come to Christian Science for healing from this habit.

In love and gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, I will try to express a little of what Christian Science has done for my family.

Four years ago I became very ill. and in spite of the close attention of the physicians grew constantly weaker and thinner.

It is now over seven years since I first heard of Christian Science, and during that time I have had many very wonderful proofs of the power of Truth to cast out error. Previous to hearing of Christian Science, I often suffered from ill-health in various forms and was considered anything but strong.

It is now a little over four years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I was in a deplorable moral state.

It is with a great sense of gratitude in my heart, for the "better country" into which Christian Science has led me, that I joyfully bring my thank-offering of experience, hoping it may help some fellow-traveler who is still in the "far country. " The blessings which this truth has bestowed upon me and mine, during the last fifteen years, cover almost every phase of human experience.

For a long time I suffered from mental depression and intense nervousness caused by numerous complications of ill-health. I was taken with abdominal trouble, and at the same time was told by my physician that I would have to undergo an operation.

It is with deep gratitude that I send my testimony to tell a few of the many blessings which I have received during my short study of Christian Science. I had from infancy attended an orthodox church regularly, and loved it, but, although I received a certain amount of happiness, for years trouble and sadness were always at hand, with never a ray of light to be seen, till finally I gave up the church (after trying various others), only to become a hard and bitter skeptic.
