Testimonies of Healing
The testimonies I read in the periodicals and hear at the Wednesday evening meetings are so very helpful to me that I would like to tell just a little of the great benefit I have received since coming into Christian Science, four and a half years ago. It was not very long after hearing of Christian Science before I decided to give it a trial, although, like many others, I had very little faith in it at that time.
When my attention was first called to Christian Science, now about ten years ago, I was in a state of nervous exhaustion as the result of long illness and a surgical operation. I had also many other ailments, some of them chronic, which are usually supposed to accompany this state of health.
It is in a spirit of the deepest gratitude that I take this opportunity of telling what Christian Science has done and is doing daily for me and mine, hoping that thereby I may give as much help and encouragement to some one else as the testimonies of others have given me. I was always an intensely nervous and delicate child, and following an injury received at the age of two years, I was never considered strong.
I was healed in Christian Science, three years ago, of brain fever. About ten years ago my sister, three years older than I, a teacher in the public schools, died of this disease, after suffering terribly for six weeks.
The truth of the "scientific statement of being," given on page 468 in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, has been proven to me in the past year, and has brought me immeasurable blessings.
IT is with heartfelt thankfulness that I hereby make public acknowledgment of the great blessings which have come to me through the study and practice of Christian Science in my daily life. I find it quite impossible, however, to give adequate expression to my gratitude for the innumerable benefits I have derived from this wonderful truth.
Nine years ago Christian Science was brought to our attention by a dear friend who through its teachings had been healed of the morphine habit. At that time my husband was suffering with paralytic and I with so-called rheumatic trouble.
With a grateful heart I wish to testify to the many benefits which we have received through Christian Science. Many years ago my wife was taken ill with a paralytic trouble and could not walk.
In gratitude to God, and also to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I would like to relate briefly my experience in Christian Science.
It is now something over four years since I took up the study of Christian Science for physical healing, and during that period I have been so wonderfully benefited and blessed that I feel the time has come when I should make a just acknowledgment of what Truth has done for me. When I turned to Christian Science it was as a last resort, as I had suffered for many years from various diseases, and although almost continually under the care of physicians, I was steadily growing worse.
