Testimonies of Healing
I can never be grateful enough for Christian Science. I was five years old when my single-parent mother learned about it and took me to Sunday School.
For many years , my husband and I wanted children. We both felt that this should be the natural result of unfoldment in a loving, stable marriage.
Some years ago , while attending a convention with my husband, I noticed I was having difficulty in climbing a few steps to board a bus taking us on a sightseeing tour. I ignored the problem at the time.
As a child it seemed there was always something wrong with me— stomachaches, earaches, sore throats. I missed a lot of school, and when I was there, I could not participate in gym classes because, among other things, it was said I had rheumatic fever.
My life in Christian Science has been full of many healings, starting with the healing of my nearly-severed right arm at the age of six. I had suffered an accident and was taken directly to a doctor's office and from there to a children's hospital.
Late one afternoon I was walking in the neighborhood when my shoe heel caught in the pavement. I tripped and fell quite hard.
Oh, how grateful I am to God! Christian Science illumines the Scriptures. I have seen my Father-Mother's love at work in everyday life with wonderful results.
Two years ago , while visiting friends one evening, I accompanied others to view their deck. As I turned to enter the house, I missed a step, and as I grabbed for the door to steady myself, I heard a crack.
About three years ago I was healed of a physical difficulty that I had struggled with for many years. Some years before, I had been a deputy sheriff in Southern California.
A hymn reminds us , "Our gratitude is riches,/Complaint is poverty" ( Christian Science Hymnal , No. 249 ).
