Testimonies of Healing
When I was a sophomore in college I had an opportunity to spend a term traveling through East Africa with other Christian Science students. This trip was a dream come true.
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mrs. Eddy asks: "Which of these two theories concerning man are you ready to accept? One is the mortal testimony, changing, dying, unreal.
Since I came into Christian Science over twenty years ago, there is not one aspect of my life which has not been blessed by my study and practice of it. I have lost just one working day because of health problems (relating to a dislocated knee which was quickly healed through prayer alone).
I took Christian Science class instruction just prior to entering active military service. This spiritually scientific instruction on how to apply understandingly the truths of God and man, as contained in the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs.
Some years ago my husband and I felt the time was right to have a family. We looked forward with expectancy to this.
I had an experience some time ago that gave me a much better understanding of my true selfhood as the image and likeness of God, Spirit, than I'd had before. For several years I'd had a small and apparently harmless cyst on a part of my body.
Where does one begin to give gratitude for six generations of Christian Science healings? Needless to say, there are too many to be enumerated here, but there are some that stand out as waymarks. As a child I was healed of so-called childhood diseases quickly and without complications.
My mother had told me that my very first healing occurred when I was a tiny baby. But I hadn't realized until hearing the story again from her recently that I actually owe my life to Christian Science.
I am so very grateful to be a student of Christian Science and to be learning more about my relationship to God and my substance as truly spiritual. I have been healed of many physical and moral ills, which include poor vision, bulimia, abscessed teeth, chronic migraine headaches, broken bones, alcoholism, menstrual pain, sprained joints, grief, and many more.
I was brought up in a family where we were encouraged to use what we were being taught in the home and in the Christian Science Sunday School to solve all of our problems. So it has always been natural for me to turn to God in prayer for guidance whenever I am confronting some difficulty.
