Testimonies of Healing
Early in 1977 my wife was having severe problems with her blood pressure and was very frequently ill. A doctor, who was a friend of ours, examined her and concluded that she would die before long.
"Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light" ( I Pet. 2:9 ).
My husband and I are among the fifth generation of Christian Scientists in our family. This means that for nearly a hundred years members of our family have relied on God for healing.
Our family has both experienced and witnessed the healing efficacy of Christian Science for over fifty years, and I, indeed, have so very much to be grateful for. Some of the healings and demonstrations include those of so-called children's diseases, bronchitis, colds, influenza, a heart condition (which was related in an earlier issue of the Christian Science Sentinel ), symptoms of bursitis, and what appeared to be pneumonia.
My introduction to the healing power of Christian Science came about when my grandfather was healed in a matter of hours of what had been diagnosed as a blood clot on the brain. As wonderful as this healing was, however, not one of us in the family took up the study of this healing Science except Grandfather himself.
The night before I left my home to work for the United States Foreign Service, I opened the Bible to these verses: "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? .
The family witnessed God's care and protection throughout the Second World War.
When I found Christian Science, I was a student of music at a university near a branch church. I auditioned for a soloist position there and was accepted.
My last testimony was published in an April 1950 issue of the Christian Science Sentinel , so I feel it is appropriate that I again offer my gratitude for the blessings which have come into my life through Christian Science. In her book Rudimental Divine Science Mrs.
