Testimonies of Healing

As a young woman, my grandmother was told by doctors that she had only a few months to live. Alone with a young son, she left her native Scotland to join relatives who could care for her in Canada.

In hopes of encouraging someone who may be searching for comfort and healing, I share the following testimony as proof that divine Love does heal difficulties of all sorts completely and permanently. Seven or eight years ago I was a young adult in great need of healing.

Although Christian Science did not take hold in my life until rather late in my adult years, the seed was planted in early childhood. A cherished memory of my father, who passed on when I was about four and a half, centers on Christian Science and was, in part, the means of bringing me into Science.

Christian Science found me during the Second World War, when we opened our home to a young woman who was in the armed forces and needed somewhere to stay. She was a Christian Scientist, and she let her light shine.

When I was a child, my family lived on a cattle ranch in a western state. Since we were eighty miles from the nearest branch church and Christian Science Sunday School, I went to a community Sunday School in a local school building.

"Christian Science heals!" This thought-provoking statement, voiced by a man in an office in the City of London just prior to the Second World War, attracted the attention of a young woman who worked there. She went to a nearby Christian Science Reading Room and borrowed a copy of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

The greatest gift one can give a child is surely to teach him of the love of God and to let him actually see how a genuine knowledge of God and of man's relationship to Him will be a blessing and a benefit. I had the experience of being reared in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced.

I am most grateful to attest to the probity of the testimony written by my husband. We were attending the same Christian Science Sunday School when he had the experience with the fire, which resulted in burns that covered the greater part of both legs.

For over fifty years the practice of Christian Science has met my every need. My parents were introduced to Science by some neighbors when my younger brother was seriously ill with pneumonia.

To me the most wonderful thing in the world is knowing that no matter what problem confronts us, we have in Christian Science a practical, provable way to bring about healing—here and now. The only place we can find real answers is in divine Truth, which Science brings to light.
