Testimonies of Healing
Since childhood I have had the privilege of studying, practicing, and loving Christian Science. What it has taught me of God and of the real, spiritual nature of man has been a way of guidance, healing, protection, of help in difficult situations, and of comfort in sorrow.
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings. " These are the first words in the Preface of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
Ever since I can remember, my family and I have relied on God for healing, comfort, and protection, with sure results. I hope this testimony will encourage others to experience these blessings for themselves through the study and practice of Christian Science.
Our son and daughter were a mere fourteen days old when we adopted them in Brazil. They were suffering from malnutrition, and they were in poor health.
My gratitude for Christian Science is boundless! I feel so blessed to have been raised in a home where Science was practiced. Making Science "my own," however— really understanding true selfhood and man's unbroken, harmonious, glorious relationship to God—has been an ongoing endeavor.
Christian Science was introduced to my grandmother in 1915, so my six grandchildren are fifth-generation Christian Scientists. Our family has many times proved the healing, protecting, comforting, and guiding power of Truth.
One Friday during an especially cold winter over fifty years ago, a kind neighbor, who was a master plumber, came to me and said that most of the houses in our village had no water. He told me that he had been trying to thaw frozen waterlines for days using a blowtorch but had had no success, since the lines were frozen in the ground.
Time has not dimmed the gratitude I feel for a healing that took place many years ago. It was obvious to my parents when I was a very small child that I had a goiter—an inherited condition with which my mother also suffered.
It is with much gratitude that I submit this testimony of healing. Eleven years ago, business took me to Boston, where I met a young man who had been raised in Christian Science.
How greatly church membership has blessed me! I have been a member of The Mother Church for over forty years, and have served for a number of years in almost every capacity in my branch church. Following Christian Science class instruction, I went on to become a Christian Science graduate nurse.
