Testimonies of Healing
Christian Science has been the law of my life for twenty-seven years. I had been seeking the true understanding of the Bible for many years, going from one church to another but not quite finding what I was looking for.
I was brought into Christian Science as a young child when I was in need of healing for a serious eye condition. Kindly neighbors, observing my parents' discouragement, introduced them to Christian Science.
"Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it" ( Ps. 119:140 ).
Soon after I was married, I went to live in New York. During that time, a quiet and industrious maid whom we had brought over from Japan began to have sleepless nights, which continued for more than a month, and she would look blank and utter strange words.
To have grown up in a home where only love and patient understanding were expressed, to have attended a Christian Science Sunday School from the age of three to twenty, and to have been taught the value of doing one's own prayerful metaphysical work makes me most grateful. I am a third-generation Christian Scientist in our family.
In 1954, my testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel regarding the healing of a mental or nervous breakdown. The healing occurred a number of years before the testimony was published, and I stated at that time that the healing was permanent.
My family and I were introduced to Christian Science through a healing I had when I was about seven years old. I had become so weak and tired that I did not want to go to school, had a very high temperature, and did not want to eat or talk.
I became a member of The Mother Church many years ago because I felt the urge to become identified with the Cause in which I deeply believe. Mistakenly, I felt that because there were many human problems I had not yet solved, I was not qualified for membership in a branch church.
I became interested in Christian Science through my mother. She was a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, which I attended with her.
I am prompted to write in gratitude for the efficacy of Mrs. Eddy's discovery given so lovingly to the world by her devotion and concern for mankind, and for the operation of Christian Science in my own life.
