Testimonies of Healing
Up to the time of my introduction to Christian Science I had been exposed to the sufferings of both my father and mother to such an extent that I feared that a pain in any part of my body might prove to be something very serious. Then one day a friend visited our home, bringing with him proofs of his healings brought about through Christian Science.
It is over fifty years ago that I first became acquainted with Christian Science. Many times, when faced with a problem, I have had help and comfort from this paragraph found on page 280 in Science and Health by Mrs.
Christian Science came into my family's life when we were very much in need of it. We were living in a far-western state about sixteen hundred miles from most of our relatives.
My parents had embraced the teachings of Christian Science before I was born. Shortly after emigrating to the United States, my father read in a large city newspaper several attacks on Mary Baker Eddy and her religion.
About two years ago I was stricken with sciatica, which almost incapacitated me. I was hardly able to walk or move without pain.

I attended an orthodox Sunday School as a child and later became a member of the church itself. However, I did not realize the blessings of a healing religion until I began to attend services in a Church of Christ, Scientist.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures ( p. 99 ): "The calm, strong currents of true spirituality, the manifestations of which are health, purity, and self-immolation, must deepen human experience, until the beliefs of material existence are seen to be a bald imposition, and sin, disease, and death give everlasting place to the scientific demonstration of divine Spirit and to God's spiritual, perfect man.
A testimony of my first healing through the ministrations of Christian Science was published years ago in the Christian Science Sentinel. It described my restoration to complete health in 1949 after twelve years of incapacity resulting from pulmonary tuberculosis.
I must express my gratitude for all the wonderful things that have come into our lives through the study of Christian Science. During a long life I have seen this truth bring about healings of nearly every ill that the flesh is heir to.
