Testimonies of Healing

When I was a year old, my mother was bedridden and very ill with a thyroid condition. Several medical specialists gave her six months to live.

In Psalm 109, verse 30 , we read, "I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude. " During the past thirty-five years Christian Science has been my only physician.

I learned of Christian Science fifteen years ago at a time of great need. I was suffering from nervous exhaustion and, in a moment of despair, ran to the neighbor next door and told her that I just couldn't go on.

"Tell it like it is" is an expression popular among young people these days and, rather oddly enough, it has been helpful to me in seeing more clearly than ever before man's relationship to God. A very close friend and I had an unfortunate disagreement, one that left me feeling downcast and disturbed.

I became interested in Christian Science after seeing its application restore harmony in a home where I was a servant. All the steps had been taken for the husband and wife to separate, except setting the date for a hearing.

Since my first testimony appeared in the Journal of May, 1961, I have had a number of other healings in Christian Science, for which I am extremely grateful. These included the successful passing of a driving test and the elimination of all fear of accidents after a twenty-year period of not driving a car.

I shall ever be grateful that my search to know more of God led me to try Christian Science. I knew God existed, but I had no answer to the question, "Who and what is God?" Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of Mary, was equally a mystery to me.

When I was introduced to Christian Science, a tremendous sense of burden, lack, discord, and frustration seemed to be consuming my life. I had always attended a Protestant church, taking part in the activities of the church and Sunday School.

This testimony is written as a statement of gratitude for Christian Science. A dear aunt, a listed practitioner in the  Journal  for many years, lived this religion in her daily life.

My testimony relates to a business property we owned in a riot-torn city and how Christian Science helped all through the experience. The property was our principal source of income.
