Testimonies of Healing
"Remember that thou magnify his work, which men behold" ( Job 36:24 ). Having been helped so very much by the testimonies in the periodicals, I desire to share my experience with the hope that it will help someone.
My teacher in Christian Science recommended that we read the testimonies in our periodicals because they tell of things that have been proven. In telling my own experiences I hope to bless someone as I have been helped innumerable times.
With humility and deep gratitude I wish to share the following experience. I had worked faithfully and joyfully in a church activity, and although my term of service was ending soon, there was no one prepared or trained to step into the office.
It is now almost sixteen years since a physical healing brought my family into Christian Science. I was suffering from a disease that centered itself in my legs, making walking very painful and difficult.
My mother became interested in Christian Science when I was about ten years old and enrolled me in a Christian Science Sunday School. From what I learned there and at home I grew up in confident agreement with Mrs.
As a young woman I had a great longing to know more about God. I was a member of an orthodox church, which I attended regularly.
Mary Baker Eddy left with her followers an exact Science to be demonstrated by following the rules laid down. She also provided practical means to aid the student in acquiring the necessary spiritual understanding for attaining this end.
"Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing" ( Ps. 100:2 ).
When I was born, I was apparently in perfect physical condition, but at the age of four years I was stricken all at one time with what our family doctor diagnosed as measles, congestion of the lungs, and brain fever. I progressively grew worse, and a council of doctors was called in.
When Christian Science was brought to my attention over twenty-five years ago, I was suffering from a stomach complaint that was supposed to be hereditary. At that time I had decorators working in the house, and one of the men, noticing how ill I appeared, brought a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and asked me to read it.
