Testimonies of Healing

I began the study of Christian Science almost accidentally, so it seemed at the time, but actually my introduction to Science was, as I realized later, an answer to my agonized prayer for help. I was a young man at the time, newly married, and working hard to support a growing family.

Faced with many perplexing problems, my husband and I turned to Christian Science early in our marriage, and quickly found, as we had been told, that through an understanding of God as taught in this Science, we could solve the myriad problems which beset mankind. Just two days after I had begun the study of Christian Science and enlisted the help of a practitioner, I was permanently healed of spinal trouble which had resulted from poliomyelitis I had had in my teens and for which a surgeon had recommended a delicate operation as the only solution.

It is with gratitude that I testify to the healing power of Christian Science. On one occasion I became suddenly ill after receiving disappointing results following many months of intense academic study in addition to normal employment.

It is with much gratitude that I write this testimony, hoping it will give courage and confidence to those who, as I, have had to pass through the Red Sea while the enemy pursued threateningly. The Second World War destroyed all our possessions, and Christian Science found me in a desert land, a wilderness full of tears and desolation.

I thank our loving Father God from the bottom of my heart for the healing power of Christian Science. Many years ago, when neither medicine nor a mud bath cure had helped, Christian Science healed me of an abdominal inflammation from which I had suffered for an entire year.

For many years the words "Christian" and "Science" have been synonymous with joy and light in my understanding, and particularly when the truths of Christian Science have been proved, as in the following healings. Just after World War II, when ration coupons were still needed to purchase clothes in England, my eldest son came home and stated that he had left his brand-new school overcoat on the train.

Having been reared in Christian Science and having had the great privilege of attending a Christian Science Sunday School from the time I was two, I have seen many wonderful proofs of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God. I should like to express gratitude for all the good that has come into my experience through a growing understanding of the allness of God, good, and particularly for a healing I experienced several years ago.

I have always been grateful for my first healings in Christian Science, which were all instantaneous. I had always studied and loved the Bible.

That the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus has come to this age through Mrs. Eddy's revelation of Christian Science, or divine Science, I have no doubt.
