Testimonies of Healing
Every day presents for the Christian Scientist an opportunity for thanksgiving. For over twenty years I have received the blessings that a knowledge of Christian Science brings to one.
My first healing in Christian Science was of constipation, and it came about through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly. I had been studying but a few weeks when I realized that I was healed.
It is with the greatest sense of gratitude that I add my testimony of what the healing power of Christian Science has been to me and mine; for before I knew of this truth which does make free, many were the days, weeks, and months I was confined to my bed suffering with severe attacks of gallstones and various other troubles. But there came a time when the physician said that an operation was imperative if I was to remain with my family.
In the seventeen years during which I have been studying Christian Science I have had many physical healings, and it is therefore with a deep sense of gratitude that I write this testimony. When Christian Science found me I was in a very depressed mental state; life seemed almost hopeless, and everything seemed to be getting more and more difficult.
Since my first healing through Christian Science, more than twenty years ago, I have had healings of many kinds — mental, moral, physical, and financial. I can here touch upon only a few which to me have seemed the most wonderful.
I came into Christian Science, not because of a physical healing— though I felt in need of that — but because I loved it and believed it to be the truth. It seemed to me logical and beautiful, and I felt that adherence to it could not fail to benefit me and others.
Over three years ago I was completely discouraged. I had not been feeling well for some time and was gradually growing worse.
I am deeply grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and is doing for mankind. It came to me when I was in sore need of physical help.
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the many times that I have received help. I also wish to relate one or two of my experiences since taking up the study of Christian Science.
Christian Science found me in a hospital recovering from an emergency operation for appendicitis, after they had said that blood poisoning had set in. My mother, at that time the only one in our immediate household who had heard of Christian Science and its beneficent healing influence, in her extremity turned to a Christian Science practitioner for aid in removing the fears which thronged for admittance to her thought.
