Testimonies of Healing
In 1917 I turned to Christian Science for aid, after I had been advised by doctors upon an examination for admission in the army, that I had better go to the West or I should pass on. At that time I had not the means to do as they advised and seemed to be fighting a hopeless battle with my responsibilities as a young professional man with a dependent family.
When a young girl I was stricken with a severe and painful stomach disorder. I went from one physician to another, tried surgery and medicine, chiropractic treatment and osteopathy, all to no avail.
With a grateful heart I should like to testify of a healing which I received through Christian Science. In the first part of February, 1927, I had to give up my work as a weaver.
After all the goodness, kindness, and love which have been mine since I became a student of Christian Science, I feel it my duty and a great privilege to be able to send this testimony. I have received many healings, the outstanding ones being of chronic constipation, insomnia, and nervous prostration, the latter difficulty carrying with it a desire to commit suicide and the fear of going insane.
When I was a junior at the University of Minnesota it was my privilege to be placed as roommate of a girl who was a Christian Scientist. I had never heard of Christian Science up to that time.
Christian Science was presented to me eighteen years ago when a member of my family was in desperate need of healing. Although I had never been sick a day in my life and never had used a drop of medicine, I was most grateful for the revelation of the truth of the Bible and the great spiritual uplifting that followed.
About sixteen years ago I turned to Christian Science, broken down mentally and physically. Like the woman in the Bible I had gone to many physicians and was nothing bettered.
I should like to take this means of expressing my gratitude to God for Christian Science. About three years and a half ago I was healed of severe bowel trouble and colitis.
Twenty-one years ago, when the future seemed dark indeed, I received a letter from a friend in Canada containing the valued message of Christian Science. In this letter the friend told of her sister's healing of consumption through the application of Christian Science alone, and asked me to try it.
I feel that it is time that I once more express my thankfulness for Christian Science, and for the many healings that continue to come into my experience. One of the most valued of these experiences is that of spending some days at the Sanatorium of The Christian Science Benevolent Association at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
