Testimonies of Healing
It is with great gratitude that I give this testimony as to what Christian Science has done for me. When I turned to Science, about three and a half years ago, it was on the recommendation of an old friend, in whom Christian Science had made a wonderful change.
[Original testimony in German] In the year 1926 an acquaintance told me that a relative of hers had been healed of a severe malady through Christian Science. To me this seemed incomprehensible and miraculous, for I had never before heard of this Science.
Previous to the summer of 1925 I was a continuous sufferer with what prominent physicians diagnosed as stomach trouble. I would fall unconscious in my home or on the street, and many times I was brought home by the police; and again many times I was pronounced dead by neighbors and friends.
An ever increasing sense of the great blessings which I have received and am daily receiving from Christian Science prompts me to give this testimony. I did not come to Christian Science for healing, but at an early age my brothers and I were placed in a Christian Science Sunday School.
TESTIMONIES OF HEALING When Christian Science was brought to me I was suffering from what the doctors called tuberculosis and peritonitis of the bowels. When I was about to undergo an operation which promised only temporary relief, my parents decided to give Christian Science a trial.
Before taking up Christian Science I had been a great sufferer, having undergone several surgical operations and suffered many long and serious illnesses, until I was beginning to despair of ever getting well and strong again. Christian Science was brought to my notice by a dear friend after I had undergone an operation for appendicitis, which was rendered more serious because gangrene had set in, attended with serious complications that nearly proved fatal.
I have been wonderfully redeemed from error in many ways through the application of Christian Science, and I am profoundly grateful. Since coming into Christian Science many years ago I have been privileged to see the healing of many diseases, including smallpox, whooping cough, spinal disease, influenza, and two very wonderful healings of pneumonia.
On page 494 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we find these words: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. " This statement has been proved many times.
About twenty-one years ago, after several years of intense suffering caused by stomach trouble, I purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Several years before, a friend had given my father a copy of one of the early editions, but it had never been studied or considered of practical value in solving the problems in our home.
Since childhood I had always been considered frail and delicate and of a nervous and fearful temperament. To me it seemed that the very birds and animals were freer and happier, better clothed and equipped, than men.
