Testimonies of Healing

I treasure the memory of that glorious day when Christian Science first came to me. My family was in a state of despondency over financial troubles, my mother's poor health, and other discordant conditions.

Christian Science came to me gradually, and through its very reasonableness. I did not seek it at first for physical healing for myself, but the physical healing of others, and particularly that of a member of my immediate family, attracted my attention to the subject.

An awakened sense of the help and the encouragement which the testimonies in our periodicals have brought to me leads me to add my expression of gratitude for the transformation that Christian Science has brought into my life. As a child I was always delicate, and even when not suffering from some particular ailment had never enjoyed the freedom and vitality natural to childhood.

I first turned to Christian Science with much uncertainty as to what it was; but when I left the practitioner's office after my first treatment and purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was assured that I would understand. Like many another, after reading the chapter on Prayer I knew I had found what I wanted and needed, and began to appreciate this great revelation of God to man.

For a great number of years I have enjoyed the help and protection of Christian Science as my only physician in sickness, and as my guide through many troubled phases of life. My first healing, that of asthma, came entirely as a result of reading and studying the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

When I look back over the years during which I have known something of Christian Science and realize how different they have been from the ones which went before, I appreciate more and more what a debt of gratitude I owe for this glorious truth that has been shown to be available to all. Each problem, mental as well as physical, has been worked out, though not always in the way I might have wished.

With a sense of deep gratitude I wish to testify to the many blessings my family and I have received through the teachings of Christian Science. I learned of this healing truth a few years ago, and was soon convinced that I had found the one thing needful.

On returning to New York City in June, 1912, I met a friend whom I had known some years before in San Francisco. In the meantime, he had become interested in Christian Science and he began to tell me of the testimony meetings and of the wonderful accounts of healing which he had heard there.

It is about six years since I was led, in a most wonderful way, to hear of Christian Science as a remedy for physical ills. I had been treated by several doctors, and although all were most kind and attentive, I still remained weak and ill.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the priceless gift to the world of Christian Science; neither can words describe my sufferings until they were destroyed through absolute dependence on God. It was through the study of the Bible together with our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, that I learned how to depend on Him.
