Testimonies of Healing

Since my childhood my father had expended much money for doctors and medicine in the hope that I might become strong and healthy. Eight years ago, while attending school in Boston, I was suffering from a slight curvature of the spine and was receiving treatments from an orthopedic specialist.

I desire to express my deeply felt gratitude for Christian Science. I had been seeking in vain, as it seemed, for health; I was struggling hard to maintain a livelihood and to pay my debts, feeling far away from God, and having almost lost hope that He would help me.

It gives me much joy to add my expression of gratitude to the many testimonies that for twenty years have brought me inspiration, courage, and confidence, in reminding me again and again of the glorious fact that Christian Science heals both physical and mental difficulties, bringing a full salvation. My son, until he was seven years old, had been much of the time under medical treatment.

It was about nine years ago that I learned of Christian Science, and since then I have had many proofs of its healing and regenerating power. Before that I was always ill and the physicians had diagnosed the ailment as lung trouble.

I took up the study of Christian Science after a doctor had said that I had a nervous heart and that there was no permanent cure for it. At my request a sister mailed to me Mrs.

Christian Science found me in the "Slough of Despond. " For ten or twelve years I had been dissatisfied with doctrinal belief, although I had served in various capacities in an orthodox church and had been reared in a religious home where old-fashioned family worship was held daily and the Bible was the main guide in life.

Early in 1914 my attention was called to Christian Science by a friend who was becoming interested in it. I had read widely and attended many churches seeking for a deeper religious experience and was always dissatisfied with what I found;but with the first article I read on Christian Science I knew that I had found the truth I had been seeking since childhood.

In May, 1926, when through a business colleague I first heard of Christian Science, I was miserable in every respect. It seemed as though no suffering had been spared me, and it looked as though physical and mental afflictions would engulf me altogether.

Christian Science came into my home a number of years ago, and because of its undeniable results and a great sense of disillusionment on account of the meaninglessness of material living, I began to ask myself if it could hold any promise for me. I have always been very grateful that it was a genuine desire to know something more of God, something that would disentangle the beliefs of human existence, that led me to take up the study of Christian Science.

When Christian Science came to our home a year ago, we were in despair of finding anything that could heal our son, four years old, of a trouble that had baffled physicians for over a year. They had removed his tonsils and adenoids, circumcised him, and treated him for leakage of the heart; they also took X-ray examinations and found his colon the size of an adult's.
