Testimonies of Healing

In the spring of 1925 I was a physical wreck. As a consequence of this the ambition of a lifetime was blasted just at the point of realization, and a source of income cut off; moreover, I was heartbroken and weary of life.

Over four years ago, while waiting for a train on the platform of an elevated railway, I was struck by a fast moving train, thrown to the platform, picked up unconscious, and taken to a hospital. The verdict given was that I might pass on.

At the age of twelve I was attracted to Christian Science by the healing of my grandmother, and as a result attended the Christian Science Sunday School. Later, however, I drifted away from it and, through a blind faith in what I thought Christian Science to be, tried to combine with it will-power and psychology.

Over eight years ago I was instantaneously healed of a nervous breakdown, together with palpitation of the heart and stomach trouble, while a friend was reading to me from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Before this healing I had been almost unable to sleep or eat for nearly three weeks.

Just to encourage someone who, like me, may have gone through many experiences of sorrow and trouble, both mental and physical, I will tell how I was led to let my burdens go, and finally found peace and harmony through Christian Science. As one of seven children, I always manifested extreme timidity: I was backward in school, and slow in other matters.

In the year 1921, after suffering for five years from a war wound in the head, I turned to Christian Science through the advice of a friend. I went to see a practitioner, and before leaving the office requested a treatment.

The sixteen years and a half since my entrance into Christian Science have been the most fruitful and satisfactory ones of my life. I am able to express only in part the depth of my gratitude for this angel-visitant, the Comforter which Jesus promised; and for our dearly loved Leader, Mrs.

With this testimony I wish to express my gratitude so that others may learn that Christian Science really does heal, and that it heals permanently. For twenty years I suffered from a serious abdominal complaint, heart disease, stomach trouble, bowel and bladder complaint, and, as the doctors called it, general nervous prostration.

Through the study of Christian Science, and with the faithful help of a practitioner, the windows of heaven have indeed been opened unto me. I have had many healings, both physical and in a business way.

We read in the Scriptures, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?" While I never can pay the debt of love and gratitude I owe to God, I can at least express a little of my gratitude for all the benefits I have received since coming into Christian Science. When our boy was eleven years old, one of Boston's best physicians diagnosed his case as diabetes and put him on a strict diet.
