Testimonies of Healing
Sincere gratitude for all the good that I have been privileged to receive through the healing truth of Christian Science prompts me to give my testimony. Since earliest childhood I had suffered from troublesome indigestion which caused me much suffering.
Christian Science does heal, and permanently. I am happy and grateful to make the above statement.
At the time I married, my husband and his family were students of Christian Science, but it was nearly three years later before I turned to it with real interest, not because of any specific healing, but because I was convinced of its Rightness. I had always loved and studied the teachings of the Bible, but there were many questions that perplexed me, and these were made clear through the teachings of Christian Science.
I was led to Christian Science in January, 1926, while I was a patient in a hospital. A friend asked me if I desired treatment and invited me to the Wednesday evening testimony meetings.
Christian Science came into my life twelve years ago, after I had been confined to my bed for five months with what physicians called "miliary tuberculosis. " I did not then know that it is frequently considered fatal, but I did know my condition was growing more serious.
About three years ago I was suffering from a severe nervous breakdown following a serious operation. After trying all kinds of drugs for insomnia, I finally became discouraged and decided to give Christian Science a trial.
For about twenty-four years Christian Science has been a constant help to me. It has met my every need, so that in all that time I have never turned to any material aid to solve my problems.
Because I have been wonderfully blessed through the teaching of Christian Science, I wish to show my gratitude by sending a testimony to the Field. I did not come into Christian Science through physical healing, but as the result of my father's healing of paralysis after he had been given up by doctors as incurable.
When I turned to Christian Science for healing, I had been suffering for five years from what the physicians termed nervous prostration. Insomnia, extreme weakness, and stomach trouble had quite spoiled my girlhood and made me a semi-invalid.
I am indeed grateful for Christian Science, for the loving help of a faithful practitioner, for the privilege of working in the Sunday school, and for the church services and the authorized Christian Science literature. To one who was brought up to fear that at any moment one was liable to an attack of disease, the understanding, at least in part, of Christian Science certainly means much.
