Testimonies of Healing
Early in 1914 my attention was called to Christian Science by a friend who was becoming interested in it. I had read widely and attended many churches seeking for a deeper religious experience and was always dissatisfied with what I found;but with the first article I read on Christian Science I knew that I had found the truth I had been seeking since childhood.
In May, 1926, when through a business colleague I first heard of Christian Science, I was miserable in every respect. It seemed as though no suffering had been spared me, and it looked as though physical and mental afflictions would engulf me altogether.
Christian Science came into my home a number of years ago, and because of its undeniable results and a great sense of disillusionment on account of the meaninglessness of material living, I began to ask myself if it could hold any promise for me. I have always been very grateful that it was a genuine desire to know something more of God, something that would disentangle the beliefs of human existence, that led me to take up the study of Christian Science.
When Christian Science came to our home a year ago, we were in despair of finding anything that could heal our son, four years old, of a trouble that had baffled physicians for over a year. They had removed his tonsils and adenoids, circumcised him, and treated him for leakage of the heart; they also took X-ray examinations and found his colon the size of an adult's.
I am sincerely grateful for Christian Science. It was certainly a great help to me during my mother's experience, and I know I can always look back on it as a great lesson in many ways.
It is with a heart filled with gratitude for the healing power of Truth as taught in Christian Science that I send this testimony. It is about thirteen years since I first asked for help from a practitioner for a severe nervous breakdown.
On page 494 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has given us this wonderful statement: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.
It is with a great sense of gratitude that I wish to share with others the proof I have had of God's healing power in a case of blood poisoning. The palm of my hand was quite calloused as a result of gardening, and beside one of these callouses a large blister appeared.
That the understanding of God, as taught in Christian Science, does heal, I wish to bear grateful testimony. The truth of Mrs.
A wonderful healing of a member of my family through Christian Science treatment, and the evident spiritualization of thought manifested in a greater love for study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, so impressed me, and so invigorated and purified the home atmosphere, that I was persuaded to ask a very loving practitioner for treatment for severe headaches from which I had suffered periodically for several years, and which usually lasted three or four days at a time and recurred frequently. I was completely healed by one absent treatment and the reading of Science and Health.
