Testimonies of Healing

It is with great joy and gratitude that I give this testimony of a recent healing. After the birth of my second son I was overcome with a sense of great mental darkness and fear.

We read in the Scriptures, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?" While I never can pay the debt of love and gratitude I owe to God, I can at least express a little of my gratitude for all the benefits I have received since coming into Christian Science. When our boy was eleven years old, one of Boston's best physicians diagnosed his case as diabetes and put him on a strict diet.

Soon after her beautiful healing in Christian Science, knowing how much I needed help for my baby boy, a dear aunt recommended it to me. She told me of a Christian Scientist in the town where she was living, and said she felt sure this lady would be glad to help us.

It is nine years since I heard of Christian Science; and it was to please a friend, who had been healed of consumption, that I promised to look into it. I had no faith that Christian Science could heal me, as I was suffering from sugar diabetes in a very bad form and the doctors had given me only three months to live.

A friend who had been healed of a long, distressing illness brought me some copies of the Christian Science Sentinel, the reading of which led me to ask for help. During about thirty years, physical discord of some sort had seemingly held me in bondage most of the time.

Shortly after becoming a student of Christian Science, I was healed in one treatment of a great sense of grief. I had lost all peace of mind and could not perform my work properly.

In 1918 our little daughter, then three years old, was taken ill with tympanitis. At that time my husband did not believe in the healing power of Christian Science; therefore we sent for a doctor, who, after several days of treatment, declared the child must undergo an operation.

That Christian Science does heal, and heal permanently, I have proved. When a child less than two years old, I had an attack of malignant scarlet fever, and my life was despaired of.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, on page 390 , are these words: "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony. " I should like to testify to the gratitude I feel that I have proved the truth of these words.

Over twelve years ago Christian Science found me in a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, at the point of death. It healed me.
