Testimonies of Healing

I received my first healing in Christian Science when I was just a young girl. It was of a disease of the skin and was quite disfiguring, as well as the source of much humiliation.

Jesus' words to his disciples were, "Freely ye have received, freely give;" and it is with love and gratitude for the many channels provided in the Christian Science movement which enable me to serve in the establishment of "on earth peace, good will toward men," that I submit this testimony. When a young girl of thirteen I became seriously ill with typhoid fever; at the same time an elder sister contracted the same disease, though in a milder form.

Although I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, it is with deep gratitude that I testify to its efficacy to heal nervous trouble, indigestion, severe headaches, influenza, burns, and sprained ankles and wrists. This unfailing truth has been my only physician for over nineteen years, and the above mentioned difficulties have been healed permanently.

I give this testimony of the healing and transforming power of Christian Science with a deep and sincere sense of gratitude for the revelation of this great truth, and with the hope that it may carry a message of comfort and help to others such as other testimonies have so often brought to me. At ten years of age I was thought to be a delicate, frail boy whose heart was in such a weak state that it was doubtful whether I would survive another winter.

When Christian Science was first presented to me, I was in the depths of despair. For three years I had suffered from nervous prostration, insomnia, and a terrible fear of insanity that hung over me like a dark cloud night and day.

I am only one of the unnumbered thousands to glorify our Father Mother, God, to give honor and praise to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, and love and reverence to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the understanding of Christian Science, the Science which teaches us God's relation to man and the whole universe. I have been able to prove many times how false is the belief in a power apart from God, and to rise above insomnia, depression, extreme sensitiveness, constant coughs and colds, financial reverses and, with the loving help of a practitioner, even the shadow of death itself.

I am very grateful to testify to the healing power of Christian Science, as it has supplied my every need, physical and otherwise, since I was born. Some years ago, during an influenza epidemic, I was healed of double pneumonia.

It is five years since I first read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but it is only during the past three years that I have kept to Christian Science teaching alone. Since the taking of this step my advance has been marked, and I am deeply grateful for the increased understanding and the new life that have opened up for me.

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. When I first began this study, twelve years ago, my thoughts were full of criticism against Christian Science, although I knew nothing about it, except through hearsay.

When over thirteen years ago I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, to help another, I had no thought of healing for myself, as I had always enjoyed very good physical health; but I have had many healings when I needed them, and for the peace of mind, the changed outlook on life, due to a higher mental standpoint, and for a new happiness, I am increasingly grateful. Early in my study of the truth I was healed of constipation after using artificial means for fourteen years.
