Testimonies of Healing
Nineteen years ago I was wandering in a maze, a mist of fear, doubt, rebellion, resentment. Being the daughter of one who delved into all the so-called sciences and philosophies, I too at an early age was poring over these, trying to find answers to perplexing questions.
I wish to express my deep gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and for my children. At one time a son, seven years old, caught his arm in an electric wringer.
For many years I had been a business woman with considerable responsibility, prone to overwork and worry. After four years of declining health I finally experienced a complete breakdown.
I have had many healings in Christian Science, and am grateful for them all; but most of all I am grateful for the better understanding of God I have gained through the study of the Bible, together with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy. I have been healed of a nervous breakdown, colds, constipation, and grief.
Our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, tells us on page 70 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Mortal existence is an enigma.
For over eighteen years Christian Science has been overcoming inharmony in my life. It has raised me from hopeless suffering and despair to health and happiness; and for this, words fail to express my gratitude.
Words cannot express my gratitude for God's wondrous goodness to me. I have been a student of Christian Science for over twelve years, and the blessings and protection I have had in that time are a daily source of gratitude.
For some time I have had a desire to express my gratitude for the wonderful help I received physically and mentally from a two months' visit to The Christian Science Benevolent Association sanatorium at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, about five years ago. I was pronounced by a medical practitioner of Chicago as permanently disabled and incurable, with what he diagnosed as locomotor ataxia.
For what God has done for me through the teachings of Christian Science, I shall never be able to give enough thanks. Since the age of four I have attended the Christian Science Sunday School regularly, and now I know that nothing else has been so much worth while.
"Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind. Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds.
