Testimonies of Healing
An account of my first healing in Christian Science appeared in The Christian Science Journal for January, 1904, and was written by my father in grateful testimony. I was the infant who swallowed the open safety pin, with no ill effects save occasional coughing.
About fifteen years ago I was told by several physicians that a serious condition, which had caused severe hemorrhages, would not yield to local treatments and an operation would be imperative. Shortly after this I was ordered into southern Ohio on business covering a period of sixteen weeks.
I have received many blessings during the years of my study of Christian Science and wish to express my gratitude for this Science as taught by Mary Baker Eddy, its Discoverer and Founder. I am very grateful for a recent physical healing.
My heart is filled with gratitude in writing this testimony. For more than fifteen years I had suffered from ill health and many bodily ailments.
We read in Isaiah, "A little child shall lead them. " This proved to be the case in our family.
At the time Christian Science was first presented to me I was very ill, a mental and physical wreck. One would have thought I would be only too willing to accept any means of relief from my misery; instead, I scoffed at Christian Science and refused to look into it.
Christian Science came to me in direct answer to prayer. At first I did not recognize it as such and tried to get along without it.
My love for our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, grows daily as I come to see more clearly her loving wisdom in establishing The Mother Church and its branches throughout the world; the Publishing House, with its busy circulation of pure healing literature; and The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, whence emanate the fearless explanations of the truth lived and expressed by Christ Jesus.
Before I accepted the teachings of Christian Science I had undergone several operations and had been told that I would always be frail and delicate and that I should never consider any strenuous activity. With the turning of my affections toward the things of Spirit my body grew rapidly stronger and my household tasks were accomplished with greater ease.
About thirty-four years ago I was told that a very dear friend was in a San Francisco hospital. I called to see him, and found that he had had twenty-three tumors removed.
