Testimonies of Healing

I send this testimony in sincerest gratitude for the great joy that has come into my life through Christian Science, which came to me over nine years ago, when I was in great need of healing. Eighteen months before this I had begun medical treatment for tuberculosis of the lungs.

I became interested in Christian Science because of its beautiful and Christlike teaching, and through reading the literature which was brought to me by my sister, who after the doctors could do no more for her was healed of nervous prostration. I soon discovered that it was the same religion which Jesus taught and practiced.

The testimonies of healing in the Christian Science periodicals have always been a source of comfort and inspiration to me. What one has proved of God's allness and goodness, all can prove.

When Christian Science was first presented to me I was a worker in an orthodox church, but many were the problems which my religion and my understanding of the Bible seemed to present. For two or three years after hearing of Christian Science I refused to study it.

For about two years I had been under the care of physicians and oculists who were honestly trying to discover the cause of my suffering. Especially were we all anxious about the headaches which remained with me most of my waking hours and had been a pronounced factor in my life since I was a small girl.

I wish to give this testimony in gratitude for having received so much through the study of Christian Science. From my childhood I had been a sufferer, enjoying very little health.

In the year 1919 I was led to take up the study of Christian Science, that I might receive help out of a condition concerning other persons besides myself. While studying the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, together with the Bible, and waiting on God to bring me relief, I had three physical healings, as my early proofs of the truth and power of Christian Science.

In grateful acknowledgment of the many benefits received I gladly give my testimony. I am increasingly grateful to the one who mentioned Christian Science to me.

My attention was first brought to Christian Science by a friend fifteen years ago, at a time when I was an informed believer in the modes of psychiatry, medicine, and surgery, being then, and for a few years following, engaged as a private secretary during two successive hospital connections. After a few months of desultory reading in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, my former concept of prayer was changed; while a lifelong condition of constipation, with related severe suffering, was completely healed.

About twenty-six years ago I began the study of Christian Science. It was brought to my attention through the healing of a relative, who seemed to get a more demonstrable understanding of God than I had been taught in the orthodox church, of which I was at that time a member.
