Christian Science has been a wonderful help to me for many years. I became interested in it through my dear mother when I was quite a small child. I am very grateful to have learned of this great truth at such an early age, and to be able to demonstrate it better as time advances.
Christian Science has helped me to overcome many physical difficulties. One healing which I should especially like to tell about was a case of eye trouble that came upon me very suddenly one day while I was helping a group of students with some drawings, in my capacity as art teacher. These drawings dealt with complicated patterns of light and dark spots, and to mortal sense my eyes became strained. The pain in one eye became so intense that I could bear it no longer. I was forced to discontinue work on the drawings, regardless of the fact that they had to be finished by a certain date. I then called for help from a loving practitioner, and within two days there was no trace of the trouble. I continued to oversee the work on the drawings, and they were finished in ample time for the press. This experience took place several years ago, and the healing has remained permanent— for which I am very grateful. I have been healed of severe colds, a badly sprained ankle, and a slight form of liver trouble through the application of Truth.
The help that I have received in ways other than physical has been most gratifying. In my calling as a teacher of art I have had many beautiful proofs of the allness of God. Love and intelligence are two divine qualities which I try to reflect in my teaching. Through Mrs. Eddy's teaching in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 465) we learn that "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." This being the case, we have but to realize that Mind is all intelligence. The more we realize what God is, the easier our work becomes, and we are able to undertake and master any problem that may confront us. I have experienced complete harmony in my classroom through the application of this great truth. Discipline thus takes care of itself, and a desire for knowledge reigns.
