Knowing the genuine inspiration gained through these columns, I am profoundly grateful for this privilege of expressing thanks for Christian Science and enumerating some of the many blessings experienced since I became interested in it, nineteen years ago.
It was presented to me by a dear relative in Colorado, where I had taken a very young daughter, who had developed a "bad lung" from influenza. When I had been there only a short time, the course of events made it necessary for me to consider leaving Colorado, and the thought of leaving before the desired healing had taken place gave me no little concern. I was told by this relative that climate could have no effect on health, and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was lent to me. Before I had read the book through I had lost all fear for my daughter, and later realized that she had been healed. In this book Mrs. Eddy says (p. 368), "When fear disappears, the foundation of disease is gone." The daughter has passed several required physical examinations since then wherein it has been seen that her lungs are in good order, and she now has a very sturdy son, ten years old.
Christian Science sustained me through years of employment, while I was rearing and schooling my two daughters and maintaining a home for them. Though I am near the half-century mark in age I have retained a high degree of youth in activity and appearance and hold a position with rigid responsibility and detail. Recently I received a grading of "Efficiency Plus" by an employment bureau. Through the application of Christian Science, when I first started in the work, I won first place in an efficiency contest covering nineteen southern states and a duration of four months. Other contestants had been in the same work for several years.
