Testimonies of Healing

I am sincerely grateful for Christian Science...

From the January 1942 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am sincerely grateful for Christian Science and for all the good it has brought to the world. That it heals, I have had proof after proof: failing eyesight, appendicitis, colds, influenza, fallen arches, periodic headaches, a growth, and many ills of which I do not know the names have been completely overcome when God's omnipotence, omniscience, and omnipresence have been glimpsed in a measure. I am very grateful for every healing experienced.

That Christian Science is protective has been proved again and again, for, during a period of fifteen years of almost continuous travel, accident, loss, and inconvenience have been averted numerous times by the application of Truth.

One night on a cross-country train, just before retiring, I discovered that my purse, containing some valuable jewelry, necessary business addresses, and a rather large sum of money, was missing. Because I had been reading the Christian Science Sentinel in the berth for about an hour before the loss was discovered, terror and fear were instantly dispelled when I saw that they were wrong, not of God, and therefore could not control me, His image and likeness. For several minutes I worked diligently, trying to know that, since God is omniscient, nothing could possibly be lost. I saw clearly that I was not for one instant dependent on the material contents of the purse for food, shelter, or success, and that because I was, in reality, an idea in Mind, God, I existed at the standpoint of Spirit, and since Spirit is infinite, all my needs would be supplied; for our Leader states the unchanging fact in Science and Health (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." When the suggestion of dishonesty presented itself, I promptly reversed it with the truth that in all the realm of the real there never had been, could not be now or at any time a dishonest man or woman. At this point the porter called, asking if I had lost a purse, and he tossed it into my lap. The contents were intact. A letter which I wrote to the Pullman company commending his honesty brought him permanent merits on his record, ensuring a speedy promotion.
